The following sequence must be followed in order to install Luach on the Palm (Treo/ Tungsten/ Zire/ TX / Visor / Sony Clie) organizer:

1 Download Luach
Download the Luach version 1.55 zip file.
This file is named "luach155.zip".

2 Save the file to your hard drive and remember the file name and location. If prompted to overwrite files, say "Yes". A zip file is a compressed file which contains several files within it.

3 You'll need WinZip (or a similar program) to extract the files out of the "zip" file. (If you are using a MacIntosh computer, use StuffIt). If prompted to overwrite files, say Yes. Remember the location of the extracted files.

4 If Luach is currently installed on your organizer, do NOT delete Luach, just re-install over it.
 • Tap the Luach icon on your organizer
 • If you see the Luach Integration checkbox
 • make sure it is unchecked
 • Tap the Done button

5 Using the Palm Install Tool, install the Luach.prc file to the Handheld section of the Palm Quick Install window (do not install on the Expansion Card section).

You can optionally install the LuachS.prc and LuachJ.prc files. These applications allow you to run Luach and go directly into the Jewish Calendar Dialog (without seeing the main menu).
 • LuachS opens the secular calendar view
 • LuachJ opens the Jewish calendar view

If you have a document reader (TealDoc), install the cities.prc file. This file contains the longitude and latitude definitions for over 200 cities throughout the world.

6 Perform a HotSync in order to transfer the file(s) to your device.

7 On your Palm device, tap the Luach icon to run the application.

8 Jewish Holidays Update
If you had a previous version of Luach on your Palm device, you will see a display prompting you to update the Jewish Holidays that already exist in your Calendar / Date Book (old and future entries). It is suggested to tap the Yes and OK buttons.

NOTE: If you tap the No button, you will not be able to change the Holidays automatically.

NOTE: In 2007, Yom Ha'Zikaron is celebrated on Monday April 23rd, and Yom Ha'Atzmaut is celebrated on Tuesday April 24th. This update will automatically fix the dates for these events in your Calendar.

9 Daylight Savings Time Update
If you had a previous version of Luach on your Palm device, you will see a display prompting you to update the Daylight Savings Time settings for each city in Luach. It is suggested to tap the Yes and OK buttons.

If you choose not to update your Daylight Savings Time settings at this time, you can always update the DST settings for a city later on, by choosing Update DST Settings from the menu on the main Luach screen.

10 City Definition - Daylight Savings Time Update
On the DST Setup screen, you will see a list of cities, and their current DST settings. The DST settings will be either Other, On or Off.

Select each city that goes by USA, Israel, or Europe DST setting, and change the setting for those cities to the appropriate settings. All cities that don't follow any of those rules should not be changed.

To update a city that you want to change, tap the City in the list, or tap the Modify Selected City button to open the highlighted city. After modifying a city, tap the Save button, and the next city in the list will automatically be highlighted. Once you've updated all of the cities that need updating, you should not need to perform this procedure again.
